Again, we hope to see the entire Carmel Community at the parade and football game on Saturday. We also extend our heartful thanks to all those parents, staff members, and volunteers who are supporting our students in what is sure to be another memorable Spirit Week and Homecoming. Thank you to our parents, guardians and community members for your unwavering support of our students – at home, in our buildings and on our fields. Your dedication to the children of our district and your partnership to ensure that they have the best possible education is incredible to witness. After his conviction, Morrissey resigned his seat in the House of Delegates, which he later won back in a special election while serving partial time in jail. Before he left office, Gov. Members of Ball High School’s Debate Team are working to rebuild the winning legacy of their predecessors under the leadership of Mr. Michael Merritte who has returned from retirement to continue leading the team. That was the scene in Danielle Marino’s History of Art class as the students recently took a virtual field trip to the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City. It was a lesson in shaking, rattling, and rolling for Earth Science students in Tracy Brusie’s classes at George Fischer Middle School during a unit on earthquakes. Students used their geology skills and compasses to interpret seismographs from three separate locations, finding the arrival times of primary waves (p-waves) and secondary waves (s-waves) in order to determine the earthquake's epicenter. To be inducted, senior students must have completed at least four business education classes, including at least one college-credit-bearing course, while maintaining an 88% average in those business education courses and an overall average of 85% or greater.

Students at GISD’s Crenshaw Environmental Science Magnet School recently enjoyed storytime with a special group of visiting new friends – cadets from the U.S. The district administrative offices have moved to a new, temporary location, just four blocks south of our former building. District graduates more than 5,500 students, Foundation receives top Best of State Award and Woods Cross High boasts District Teacher of the Year. Coachella Valley Unified School District , based in Thermal, CA, has 23 schools; 4 High Schools, 4 Middle Schools, and 14 Elementary Schools and 1 Adult School. Following a four-song performance by the school's Iron Horse Choir, the school's fourth-graders took to the stage to debut "The Nutcracker Suite," a mini-musical based on Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's famous ballet. Our schools are known for being recognized as California Distinguished Schools, along with being awarded the 2022 California Pivotal Practice Award, California Schools to Watch, and Positive Behavior Intervention Schools designations.
Over half our schools submitted festive holiday boards for the 13th annual Celebrate the Season event in Moncks Corner. Kaley Hobgood at Goose Creek Elementary recently had her third-grade students do a holiday-themed writing prompt. The students had to list three reasons why they would make a good elf in Santa Claus's workshop.

For the seventh year in a row, student artists were encouraged to enter the Superintendent’s Greeting Card Contest to showcase their talent and creativity. November marks the launch of the initial phase of a four-month Accreditation Review Process with Cognia. To prepare All of our students for college, work and life in high performing Roselle Public Schools.
The award is presented to outstanding doctoral students pursuing careers in educational leadership, with leadership emphasis on the superintendency. The district hired two architecture firms to conduct feasibility studies at West High and Highland High. In looking at future of these two schools, the district hopes to prioritize a high quality of education for all students and to recognize the rich heritage in these school communities. District schools will be open on all regularly scheduled school days unless circumstances create health or safety issues.
My hope is to provide an informal setting and refreshments for open dialogue on select topics during the year. I have scheduled three of these in-person meetings and hope that you will make plans to join me on November 1, February 15 and May 30. We strive to have our focus groups represent all aspects of our community, so participants will be chosen to ensure a variety of voices.
A special election to replace the seat of the late Rep. Donald McEachin in Virginia’s 4th Congressional District has Democrats scrambling as they host a rushed primary on Tuesday. The Burlington Township School District will develop the intellectual, creative and social potential of each child through an active partnership with all members of the community. Permission slips have already been sent out so make sure you have your parents fill it out and send it in. This December, we’re highlighting the importance of science to students who have big hopes for their future.
While so much work has been happening already, there is still much more input to be collected to help us formulate a unified plan for our district’s future. We are equally pleased to be able to bring Mr. DiCarlo back to our district, where he served as our interim principal at Kent Elementary School over the summer and the beginning of the school year. After a short break between roles, Mr. DiCarlo is officially at the helm of Carmel High School, and we are thrilled to have him back with us again.
We look forward to welcoming our students and staff back to our buildings for the first day of the school year later this week. As a reminder, Thursday, September 1, will be a full day of school for our students in grades 1-12, and a modified school day for our incoming kindergarten students with an orientation and bus run. Detailed information about the schedule for the incoming kindergarten students was emailed directly from the elementary schools’ principals.
